How to pay with Bitcoin on Trip1?
In short
- Trip1 accepts Bitcoin payments on-chain and via the Lightning Network for hotel bookings in 190+ countries - just select "Pay with crypto" at checkout and send BTC from any wallet.
- Lightning Network payments confirm in seconds, while on-chain transactions typically take 10 to 60 minutes depending on network congestion.
- You do not need a Trip1 wallet or account balance - CoinGate (Trip1's MiCA-licensed payment provider) handles the conversion, and the hotel receives fiat currency.
Pay with Bitcoin - step by step
Step 1 - Search for your hotel
Go to trip1.com and enter your destination, check-in and check-out dates, and number of guests. Browse the results and pick the hotel that works for you.
Step 2 - Select your room and proceed to checkout
Choose your preferred room type and click "Book now". Fill in the guest details on the checkout page. You will see the total price displayed in your selected currency.
Step 3 - Choose "Pay with crypto"
At the payment step, select "Pay with crypto". The CoinGate payment window opens, showing the available cryptocurrencies. Select Bitcoin (BTC) and choose your preferred network - either Bitcoin on-chain or Lightning Network.
Step 4 - Send the exact BTC amount
The payment window displays a QR code and a wallet address with the exact BTC amount to send. Open your Bitcoin wallet, scan the QR code or paste the address, and send the payment. Make sure to send the exact amount shown - underpayments may not be processed automatically.
Step 5 - Wait for confirmation
Lightning payments confirm almost instantly. On-chain payments need at least one network confirmation, which usually takes 10 to 60 minutes. Once confirmed, your booking is complete and you will receive a confirmation email with all the details.
Which Bitcoin network should you use?
Trip1 supports two Bitcoin networks: on-chain and Lightning Network (Bitcoin's fast payment layer).
We recommend the Lightning Network for most bookings. It confirms in seconds and has much lower fees than on-chain transactions. Most modern Bitcoin wallets support Lightning - look for a "Lightning" or "Send via Lightning" option in your wallet.
On-chain payments work with any Bitcoin wallet but take longer to confirm. If you choose on-chain, set a reasonable transaction fee to avoid delays - a low fee during high network congestion can cause your payment to expire before it confirms.
Before you send
Important: Always double-check that you are sending Bitcoin on the correct network (Bitcoin or Lightning). Sending BTC to an address on the wrong network cannot be reversed, and Trip1 cannot recover those funds.
