Can you pay for hotels with crypto?

Yes, you can

Trip1 accepts cryptocurrency for hotel bookings worldwide. Choose from over 2 million properties in 190+ countries, then pay with Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, or any of 10 supported cryptocurrencies. CoinGate, a MiCA-licensed payment provider based in the EU, processes every transaction.

How it works

Paying with crypto on Trip1 takes five steps:

  1. Search for a hotel by destination and dates
  2. Pick your room and go to checkout
  3. Select cryptocurrency as your payment method
  4. Choose your coin and network, then scan the QR code or copy the wallet address
  5. Send the payment. You get a booking confirmation once the transaction settles.

Supported cryptocurrencies

Trip1 accepts 10 cryptocurrencies across 15+ networks:

  • Bitcoin (BTC) including Lightning Network
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • USD Coin (USDC)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Dogecoin (DOGE)
  • Tron (TRX)
  • XRP

USDC is available on multiple networks including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base.

Tether (USDT) is not supported. Tether has not obtained authorization under the EU's MiCA regulation, so MiCA-licensed processors like CoinGate cannot offer it.

CoinGate converts your crypto to fiat and settles with the hotel, so properties do not need to accept crypto themselves.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. You need any wallet that can send to a blockchain address. Hardware wallets, mobile wallets, and exchange wallets all work.

CoinGate locks the exchange rate for a limited window. If your payment expires before the transaction confirms, you can retry at the updated rate.

Refunds go back as account credit or to your original payment method. Contact support for details.

Trip1 does not charge extra fees for crypto payments. Network fees depend on the blockchain you use. Bitcoin Lightning and Layer 2 networks like Polygon and Arbitrum tend to have the lowest fees.

Tether (USDT) has not obtained authorization under the EU's MiCA regulation. CoinGate, the MiCA-licensed provider that processes Trip1's payments, cannot offer USDT as a result. USDC is the supported stablecoin.
