Once past the deadline, the booking is treated as non-refundable. The hotel keeps the full amount. Some hotels offer a tiered penalty - for example, full refund up to 72 hours before, 50% up to 24 hours, 0% same-day - but most don't.

Last-minute cancellation on trip1
