What happens to my hotel booking if my flight is cancelled?

Hotels don't track your flight
Hotels and booking platforms don't have your flight details. Even if your flight is cancelled, your hotel reservation remains active until you (or the booking platform) cancel it. That means if you're outside the free cancellation window, you may still forfeit the booking unless you act fast.
How to recover hotel costs
- Ask the airline for compensation - EU261, US DOT rules, and many tickets cover lodging costs from cancelled flights.
- File a travel insurance claim - most plans cover missed connections and unused accommodation.
- Request a goodwill refund from the hotel via the booking platform - some properties accommodate documented airline disruptions.
