Munich Airport (MUC) is 28 km northeast. S-Bahn S1 or S8 runs every 10 minutes to Hauptbahnhof and Marienplatz in ~40-45 minutes (€13.60). Lufthansa Airport Bus runs to Hauptbahnhof (~45 min, €11). Taxis cost €60-75 and take 45-60 minutes. The S-Bahn is the most convenient and reliable option.

The U-Bahn (8 lines) covers all major tourist areas. Single ride €3.70, day pass €9.20, group day pass €18.40 (up to 5 people) - outstanding value. The CityTourCard (€17.90/day) adds discounts at 70+ attractions. Munich also has a scenic tram network (Line 19 through Schwabing is lovely) and extensive cycling infrastructure along the Isar river.

Zugspitze (90 km, ~2h) is Germany's highest peak with cable car access. Dachau Memorial (16 km, ~35 min) is an essential historical site. Nuremberg (170 km, ~1h by ICE) has a medieval castle and Christmas market.
