Hotels near Berliner Weihnachtszeit at the Rotes Rathaus

The Berliner Weihnachtszeit sets up in front of the Rotes Rathaus, Berlin's red-brick City Hall, with the TV Tower rising behind it. Styled after old Berlin in the early 1900s, it is one of the most family-friendly Christmas markets in Berlin, with a large Ferris wheel and an ice rink around the Neptune Fountain. Published listings give 2026 dates of 23 November to 3 January 2027.

The stalls sell gifts, crafts and plenty of food, from bratwurst to roasted almonds, and the Ferris wheel gives a view over the market and the Nikolaiviertel, the old quarter by the Spree.

It is loud and busy, especially on weekends, but the setting under the TV Tower is hard to beat.

Pro Tip: Ride the Ferris wheel just after dark for views of the lit TV Tower and City Hall. Walk afterwards through the Nikolaiviertel, Berlin's oldest quarter, which is a two-minute walk south.
