Ibiza is the third-largest of Spain's Balearic Islands, sitting in the western Mediterranean about 150 km off the coast of Valencia. The island covers 572 square kilometres and is home to roughly 150,000 residents, with the capital Ibiza Town (Eivissa) on the southeast coast. Ibiza is famous worldwide for its summer club scene, but the island's appeal runs much deeper than its nightlife reputation - turquoise coves, a UNESCO-listed walled old town, pine-covered hills, and a slower bohemian rhythm in the north.

Visitors come for the beaches at Cala Comte and Cala Salada, the sunset views from Es Vedra and the cafes of Sant Antoni, the medieval ramparts of Dalt Vila, and the day-trip ferry to neighbouring Formentera. The high season runs from June to September when prices peak and clubs reopen, while May, late September, and October offer warm sea temperatures with thinner crowds. Ibiza Airport (IBZ) handles direct flights from most major European cities, making the island one of the most accessible Mediterranean destinations.

Beyond the coast, the interior holds whitewashed villages like Santa Gertrudis, hippy markets at Las Dalias, and hiking trails through Es Amunts. The local language is Catalan in its Eivissenc dialect, though Spanish is universal and English is widely spoken in tourist areas. Ibiza pairs naturally with a 1-2 day extension to Formentera, reachable in 30 minutes by ferry from Ibiza Town.
