Grand-Place de Bruxelles, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium
The Grand-Place, a UNESCO World Heritage Site ringed by ornate guildhouses and the Gothic City Hall, is the centrepiece of the Brussels Christmas market. A giant Christmas tree stands in the middle of the square, and every evening a sound and light show plays across the facades, set to music.
The square does not hold market chalets itself, which keeps the view of the architecture clear, but stalls start in the surrounding streets. The light show runs several times each evening, though it is cancelled on some special event nights.
The 2026 Winter Wonders season runs from 27 November to 3 January 2027, and the full programme of shows is published by the organisers in November.
Pro Tip: Watch the light show from the steps near the Maison du Roi on the north side for the best view of City Hall. Visit after 9pm on a weekday, when the square is less crowded.
