Québec, QC, Canada
Montmorency Falls drops 83 m into the Saint Lawrence, about 30 m higher than Niagara, and the park is built to let you get uncomfortably close to it: a suspension bridge directly over the crest, a cliff staircase of 487 steps, and a cable car up the face. Access for a non-resident adult costs 13.90 dollars in high season or 10.42 in low season, before tax, with children 0 to 17 free. High season runs 11 May to 1 November 2026. The cable car is a further 14.95 dollars return for adults and 7.48 for children 6 to 17.
The zipline across the gorge runs daily 10:00 to 16:30 from 20 June to 7 September at 33.50 dollars for adults, with a 41 to 82 kg weight limit. Two closures to plan around: the cable car and information centre shut entirely from 2 November to 18 December 2026, and again from 4 January to 5 February 2027. The site stays walkable in those windows but with no services, no food and no lift. SEPAQ prices exclude tax, so add about 15 percent, and a family of four easily passes 80 dollars. Expect to be soaked by spray near the base, and note there is no step-free route to most viewpoints.
Pro Tip: Buy access online in advance, take the cable car up and the 487 steps down, and go in the morning before the coach tours arrive from the Old Port. In winter the frozen spray builds a cone of ice at the base called the Sugarloaf, which is the best reason to come in February despite the service closures.
