The Place Sainte-Catherine and the old fish market (Vismet) form the busiest part of the Brussels Christmas market, with long rows of chalets stretching along the former canal basin. This is where you will find the greatest choice of food, drink and gifts.

A large Ferris wheel and a carousel are usually set up here, and the area is lined with seafood restaurants, a tradition from the days when fish was landed in this part of the city. Stalls serve Belgian waffles, croquettes, oysters, mulled wine and Belgian beer.
