Wilfrid-Laurier Avenue, Québec City, QC, Canada
On 13 September 1759 the British and French armies met here for about 20 minutes, both commanders died, and the future of North America changed. The park is free and open at all hours, 103 hectares of lawn, trees and Martello towers along the cliff, and it is where the city goes to run, ski and hold festivals. The Plains of Abraham Museum sits beneath avenue Wilfrid-Laurier and opens daily 09:00 to 17:00 year round.
Museum pricing changes three times during 2026, which is worth knowing before you queue. From 2 July to 7 September it is 17 dollars for adults, 12.75 for seniors and 8.50 for students, with children 5 to 12 free. From 8 September to 31 December it drops to 13.75 for adults with a 32.50 family rate. Admission is free on 1 July and 11 November. The honest assessment: without interpretation the park reads as a large open lawn, and the museum is a modest basement-level space. The Martello towers are effectively group-priced in 2026, at 115 dollars per group for Tour Martello 4 between 16 July and 27 September, which is poor value for a couple.
Pro Tip: Do the museum first and the park second, because 40 minutes of context turns an ordinary field into the most consequential 20 minutes in Canadian history. Then walk east along the cliff-top path to the Citadelle, which is level ground and free.
