The Winterdom is the winter edition of the Hamburger Dom, northern Germany's largest funfair, held on the vast Heiligengeistfeld. The 2026 Winterdom runs from 6 November to 6 December, according to the City of Hamburg, with rides, a giant Ferris wheel, food stalls and festive lights.

It is not a traditional Christmas market, but it is a much-loved part of Hamburg's pre-Christmas season, especially with families. Stalls serve mulled wine, candied apples, roasted almonds and Fischbrötchen, the city's classic fish sandwich.

Entry to the funfair is free, while rides are paid individually. Note that the Winterdom closes on 6 December, before most Christmas markets end.

Pro Tip: Visit on a Wednesday, traditionally the family day at the Dom, when many rides offer reduced prices. Ride the Ferris wheel after dark for views over the city.
