How do I book an accessible or wheelchair-friendly room?
Use the accessibility filters on trip1 search results, book an accessible room type where one is listed, and confirm your specific needs with the hotel directly.

Finding accessible properties
Search your destination and dates, then open the filters panel and select the accessibility options under amenities. Typical filters cover step-free entrances, lift access, adapted bathrooms, and accessible parking.
Newer chain hotels tend to have the most consistent provision. Historic buildings and small guesthouses often cannot offer lifts or wide doorways, whatever their listing says.
Reserving the room rather than requesting it
Where the hotel sells an accessible room as its own room type, booking it guarantees you that room. Where it does not, an accessible room can only be requested, and the hotel allocates it on the day.
In that second case, add a special request during checkout and then call the property to have it noted on your reservation. Getting it in writing by email is worth the few minutes it takes.
What to ask the hotel
- Door widths for the room and bathroom, in centimetres
- Whether the bathroom has a roll-in shower or a bath with a step
- Grab rails, bed height, and turning space beside the bed
- Step-free routes from the street, the car park, and the lift to the room
If the room is wrong on arrival
Raise it at the front desk first, then contact trip1 support with your booking reference. We will work with the hotel on a suitable room, or move you to another property if they cannot meet what was booked.
