Hotel changed or downgraded my room - what can I do?
In short
- If the hotel gave you a different or lower room than you booked, raise it at the front desk first and ask for the room you paid for.
- If they cannot fix it, you may be owed the price difference or a partial refund - document everything.
- Contact trip1 support with your booking confirmation and photos, and we will help you claim.
Being handed a smaller or lower room than you paid for is frustrating, especially after travelling. You have options, and a few quick steps make your case much stronger.
Raise it with the hotel first
Start at the front desk. Show your booking confirmation with the room you reserved and ask them to give you that room or a suitable upgrade. Many downgrades are fixed on the spot.
If the hotel cannot fix it
If the correct room is not available, you may be entitled to the price difference or a partial refund for the lower room. You still have a room, so this is usually partial rather than a full refund.
How to claim with trip1
Step 1 - Document the downgrade
Keep your booking confirmation showing the room you paid for, and take photos and notes of the room you actually received.
Step 2 - Contact trip1 support
Send trip1 support your evidence and booking reference. We will help you claim the difference or a partial refund, paid back to your original crypto payment.
Tip: Raise the issue while you are still at the hotel. Sorting a downgrade during your stay is far easier than after you check out.
