Hotels near Angels' Christmas Market on Neumarkt

The Markt der Engel (Angels' Market) on Neumarkt is the most romantic Cologne Christmas market. White chalets stand beneath trees strung with thousands of fairy lights and paper stars, and performers dressed as angels wander through the stalls handing out small gifts.

The 2026 market runs from 16 November to 23 December. The stalls sell crafts, jewellery and gifts, and the food and drink are a step up from the average market, with upscale bars and seasonal specialities.

Neumarkt is a major tram and U-Bahn hub, and the market is also on the route of the small Christmas market tram that links the main markets in the centre.

Pro Tip: Visit after dark, when the canopy of lights over Neumarkt is at its best. It is the most photogenic Cologne market and a good choice for couples or a quieter evening drink.
