Butterfly Valley is a narrow Y-shaped inlet dropping 600m from the Faralya cliffs to a single pebble beach on the Aegean, named for the Jersey Tiger moths (Euplagia quadripunctaria) that swarm here between June and September. The only sanctioned route in is the water taxi from Belcekiz Beach in Ölüdeniz, which runs 30 to 40 minutes each way with 2026 return tickets of 500 to 700 TRY per person (roughly €14 to €18). The beach camp has a basic café and toilets; a 30-minute walk up the streambed reaches a small waterfall. Sailings are weather-dependent and cancel when southerly swell prevents safe landing on the rocky cove. The clifftop hiking descent from Faralya via fixed ropes has been the site of multiple fatal accidents in recent years and is currently restricted; do not attempt it as a casual walker. Camp accommodation in canvas cabins is available if you want to stay overnight after the last boat leaves.

Pro Tip: Check the morning water taxi forecast at the Belcekiz Beach kiosk before committing. If Butterfly Valley is closed for swell, the 12 Islands gulet tour still runs inside sheltered Fethiye Bay and makes a solid substitute for a day on the water.
