Events in Germany: what to know
The two are about three weeks apart and at opposite ends of the country, roughly four and a half hours by ICE or an hour by air. Each is among the biggest weeks of its city’s hotel year, so neither is a late booking.
What you book differs as much as where. gamescom is a ticketed trade-fair campus in Deutz; Oktoberfest is an open ground on the Theresienwiese with free entry, where the only thing reserved in advance is a tent table.
