Cala Conta (Cala Compte) is regularly listed among the ten best beaches in Europe and the water colour justifies that claim - a spectrum from pale turquoise in the shallows to deep cobalt beyond the rocky islets. The beach consists of two connected coves on the west coast with views towards the islands of Conejera and Sa Conillera. For couples, the northern cove is marginally quieter, slightly smaller, and has rockier entry points that most families avoid.
Parking fills up by 11 AM in July and August; arrive before 10 AM or after 5 PM for both space and the best light on the water. The beach bar (Sunset Ashram, Cala Conta s/n) serves food and cocktails but carries beach-bar prices. Alternatively, bring a picnic from Ibiza Town and spread it on the rocks above the northern cove.
Pro Tip: The rocky islets 150 m offshore are reachable by a short swim and give you a completely unobstructed view back towards the shore and the setting sun. Snorkel gear (sold in Ibiza Town, from about 12 EUR) is worth bringing for the clear water around the islets.
