31-042 Kraków, Poland
The Krakow Christmas market sets up on Rynek Główny, one of the largest medieval town squares in Europe and part of the UNESCO-listed Old Town. Wooden stalls fill the square on the side of the Town Hall Tower, framed by the Renaissance Cloth Hall and the Gothic St Mary's Basilica.
The 2026 dates had not been announced at the time of writing. In 2025 the market ran from 28 November to 1 January, with 105 stalls open daily from 10am to 8pm and food stalls until 10pm. Many stalls close after 26 December, when the market becomes a smaller New Year's market.
Stalls sell hand-painted glass baubles, wooden toys, ceramics, amber jewellery, sheepskin slippers and Polish food, and prices are lower than at most Western European markets.
Pro Tip: Visit between the opening weekend and 26 December for the full market. Try oscypek, a smoked sheep's cheese from the Tatra Mountains grilled and served with cranberry jam.
