The Fethiye Fish Market (Balık Pazarı) is a hexagonal covered hall in the middle of the Paspatur old quarter, ringed by restaurants on the outside and fishmongers on the inside. The system works in one loop: buy your sea bass, bream, calamari, prawns or octopus from an inner vendor, carry it to any restaurant on the outer ring, and pay a flat cover of 200 to 300 TRY per person for the kitchen to grill or pan-fry it with bread, salad and mezze on the side. Fish itself runs 400 to 800 TRY per person depending on species; two diners eat well for 1,200 to 1,800 TRY total. Vendors open around 09:00 and close mid-evening; the freshest catch is on ice at lunchtime, so 12:30 to 14:00 is the sharpest window. Avoid Sunday and Monday when no fresh boats arrive. Paspatur itself is a cluster of stone-and-cobblestone lanes that survived the April 1957 magnitude 7.1 earthquake better than the modern centre, and its tables spread outside at sunset.

Pro Tip: Bring small Lira notes (₺20 and ₺50) for the fishmonger - card readers inside the hall are unreliable. Ask the vendor to weigh your fish in front of you and negotiate before it goes on the scale, not after.
