The Funky Xmas Market takes place at Westergas, a former gasworks turned cultural park, and is the city's favourite alternative Christmas market. Instead of traditional chalets, it focuses on local designers, makers, vintage stalls and creative street food, with DJs and live music.
The market runs on selected weekends only. One listing gives 20 December 2026, but the full 2026 schedule had not been confirmed at the time of writing; in 2025 it ran on 14 and 15 December and on 21 and 22 December, from 1pm to 8pm.
The industrial setting and the surrounding Westerpark make it a relaxed alternative to the busier city-centre attractions.
Pro Tip: Arrive early in the afternoon on the first day, before the most popular stalls sell out. Combine the market with a walk through Westerpark and dinner in one of the park's restaurants.
