180 Strand, Temple, London WC2R 1EA, UK
Ikoyi holds two Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2026 and serves the most technically ambitious cooking on this list. Chef Jeremy Chan builds a fixed tasting menu around the West African larder - scotch bonnet, egusi, uda, smoked crayfish, fermented grains - without pretending to cook traditional Nigerian food. The plantain with smoked scotch bonnet raspberry salt is the signature dish and has appeared in some form since the restaurant opened; the jollof rice with crab custard is the other plate people return for. Expect £395 per head for the evening tasting menu, about €455, or £180 (roughly €207) for the shorter lunch served Wednesday to Friday. That is the honest headline: this is one of the most expensive meals in the city.
The dining room seats around thirty across dark stone, brass and very low light, and the service is quiet to the point of solemn. It suits two people talking, not a group celebrating. Booking is a scramble: reservations open on the first of each month at 12:00 GMT for two months ahead, tables are capped at two to four guests, and the best slots disappear within minutes. Ikoyi also charges a supplement for dietary changes declared after booking, so flag allergies when you reserve rather than on arrival.
Pro Tip: Take the Wednesday-to-Friday lunch at £180 instead of dinner. Same kitchen, same signature dishes, less than half the money, and lunch slots survive noticeably longer than dinner slots after the 12:00 release on the 1st.
