The K&K Weihnachtsmarkt sets up in front of the Upper Belvedere, the Baroque palace built for Prince Eugene of Savoy and now home to one of Austria's major art collections. The stalls line up in front of the palace with its long reflecting pool, which makes this one of the most photogenic Christmas markets in Vienna.
The 2026 season runs from 20 November to 31 December. While the old-town craft markets close on 23 December, the Belvedere stays open through Christmas and New Year's Eve, with shorter hours on 24 and 31 December. That makes it a good choice for a visit in the quiet week between Christmas and New Year.
The Upper Belvedere houses Gustav Klimt's The Kiss, so the market pairs easily with a museum visit. Allow an hour for the stalls and two for the collection.
Pro Tip: Visit the Upper Belvedere gallery in the afternoon and step out at dusk. The view back along the gardens towards the city centre, with the palace lit behind the stalls, is the best photo spot of the season.
