Kuźnice 14, 34-500 Zakopane, Poland
Kasprowy Wierch is the summit every Polish skier measures the others against, and it is the only entry on this list that lies inside Tatra National Park. The Kasprowy Wierch cable car climbs 4,291 m in two sections, from Kuźnice at 1,027 m through the Myślenickie Turnie mid-station at 1,352 m to the top at 1,959 m, with 60 people per cabin. Two chairlifts then serve two separate bowls. The Gąsienicowa run is the shorter option at about 1.2 km with 352 m of vertical, reached by a four-person chairlift. The Goryczkowa run is the serious one, roughly 1.7 km with close to 600 m of vertical, served by a slow two-seater that takes around 15 minutes to climb.
Neither run has snowmaking or lighting, because Tatra National Park permits neither, so the chairlifts open only once natural cover is deep enough, usually from late December or January and often lasting into April. Both grade red in good snow and effectively black when it thins. There is no beginner terrain up here at all.
Pro Tip: Book the 1-day SKIpass online at least seven days ahead for 169 PLN (about 39 EUR) rather than 199 PLN (about 46 EUR) at the Kuźnice window, and take the earliest timed slot you can get - the 60-person cabins leave roughly every 10 minutes and the cable car queue, not the chairlifts, is what limits your day.
