The Christmas market on the Place des Abbesses, at the foot of the Montmartre hill, brings a village atmosphere to one of the city's most charming neighbourhoods. Its chalets sell crafts, gifts, mulled wine and French treats, beside the famous Art Nouveau entrance of Abbesses metro station.
The 2026 dates had not been announced at the time of writing; in 2025 the market ran from 21 November 2025 to 4 January 2026.
From the square, it is a short climb through cobbled streets to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, which offers one of the best views over Paris, especially at dusk. It is the most village-like Paris Christmas market on this list.
Pro Tip: Visit the market in the late afternoon, then climb to the Sacré-Cœur for sunset over Paris. Take the funicular if you prefer to avoid the steep steps.
