Mürren skis higher and colder than anywhere else in this guide. Pistes run from 1,645 m to 2,960 m on 13 lifts, a vertical of about 1,315 m, and the base station alone sits more than 600 m above Grindelwald's. That altitude is why Mürren-Schilthorn tends to hold its snow when the lower areas are turning to slush in late March. Piste length is genuinely disputed: the regional tourism board publishes 56 km, muerren.swiss says 51 km and skiresort.com counts 54 km. The 56 km figure is the official regional one used here, but the sources do not agree and nobody should quote it as settled.

Like Wengen, the village is car-free. You reach it either by the Lauterbrunnen-Grütschalp funicular and the mountain railway on to Mürren, or by cable car up from Stechelberg. Skiing is on the same Skipass Jungfrau at CHF 79 adult, with CHF 45 for teenagers aged 16 to 19 and CHF 38 for children 6 to 15, over the 21 November 2026 to 25 April 2027 season. The Schilthorn summit itself is a separate sightseeing transaction rather than a ski lift: Stechelberg to Schilthorn return costs CHF 115.00 and Mürren to Schilthorn CHF 91.40, and the Jungfrau Travel Pass is not listed as covering the Birg to Schilthorn top section.

Pro Tip: If the Schilthorn summit matters more to you than the skiing, ride the mountain railway up to Mürren first and buy the Mürren to Schilthorn return at CHF 91.40 rather than the Stechelberg one at CHF 115.00. That is CHF 23.60 saved for a journey you were making anyway.
