Hotels near Northern Ibiza Villages

The northern interior of Ibiza - the municipalities of Sant Joan de Labritja and Sant Miquel de Balansat - holds a different landscape from the developed south: terraced almond groves, dry stone walls, isolated fincas (farmhouses), and villages that see very few tourists. A self-guided drive through this area, stopping at viewpoints over the north coast and the island of Tagomago, takes half a day and costs nothing beyond fuel.

Sant Joan de Labritja village (population around 350) has a small whitewashed church and a bar that serves decent bocadillos (filled rolls) and coffee. The drive north from here to Port de Sant Miquel passes one of the best north coast viewpoints on the island, looking down over a near-circular bay with clear green water.

Pro Tip: The unmapped viewpoint 2 km south of Sant Joan de Labritja on the road towards Santa Eulalia del Rio (at the bend where the road crests the ridge) looks east over the entire central valley and out to the sea. There's no sign for it - pull off on the right and walk 30 metres to the edge. It's one of the best views on the island.
