Pollonia is the more polished side of Milos - a small fishing village turned quietly upmarket, with a crescent of tamarisk-shaded sand, low-rise white villas, and some of the best seafood restaurants on the island. It doubles as the departure port for Kimolos, and the pace here is noticeably slower than in Adamas: mornings are for swimming, evenings are for grilled fish and a walk along the harbour wall. Two kilometres west along the coast road is Papafragas, a narrow slot inlet where the sea has cut a channel between cliffs to form three small connected caves with a tiny sandy beach at the far end. The viewpoint from above is stunning; getting down requires care on a steep scramble. Directly opposite the car park sits the Neolithic settlement of Phylakopi, one of the most important Bronze Age sites in the Cyclades, with three stratified cities dating from 3300 to 1100 BC.

Pro Tip: Book Armenaki or Gialos in Pollonia at least 48 hours ahead for a table on the water in July and August 2026, and pair it with a late afternoon at Papafragas when the sun angle lights the cave interior.
