Saklikent Gorge is an 18-km canyon carved by the cold Eşen Stream through the Akdağlar mountains, with walls rising to 300m and a riverbed that stays in deep shade for most of the day. Water temperature holds in the single digits Celsius even in mid-August, which is exactly why locals leave the coast and drive inland when the beach hits 35°C. The site is managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as a national park, so 2026 entry is priced in Lira only at 250 TRY per adult; children under 7 enter free and students pay 125 TRY with valid ID. The Museum Pass Aegean is not accepted at the gate. From the ticket office, a suspended boardwalk runs 150m into the canyon before the river itself becomes the path. Rubber grip shoes rent at the gate for 50 to 100 TRY - standard sandals will be swept away within minutes. Park hours run roughly 08:00 to 19:00 in summer, closing earlier in winter.

Pro Tip: Combine Saklikent with the Lycian ruins at Tlos and lunch at the Yakapark trout restaurant to build the classic inland day. Pack a dry bag with a change of clothes for the return drive - you will be soaked from the waist down.
