The western promenade of Sant Antoni, between the Egg Monument and the northern jetty, is lined with the cafes that turned Ibiza's sunsets into an international ritual. Cafe del Mar (Carrer de Vara de Rey, 07820) launched the ambient chill-out music genre in 1994 and still draws a substantial crowd, but the promenade itself belongs to everyone. Walking it at golden hour, with the sun approaching the horizon and the bay turning orange, is completely free.

The Egg Monument (Monument a l'Ou de Colom) at the northern end of the promenade is the traditional gathering point. For couples who want to do this properly without the crowd, the concrete jetties 200 metres north of the main bar cluster give the same unobstructed westward view and you can bring your own drinks.

Pro Tip: The best free position on the sunset strip is on the stone breakwater at the northern end of the promenade - accessible from the path past Cafe Mambo (Carrer de Vara de Rey, 07820). You're above the road, facing directly west, and nobody charges you for the view.
