Schönbrunner Schloßstraße 47, 1130 Wien, Austria
The Schönbrunn Christmas market fills the Ehrenhof, the main courtyard in front of the former Habsburg summer residence. More than 90 stalls are set up for 2026, and the season is the longest of any of the Christmas markets in Vienna: 6 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. From 24 December the market switches to New Year opening hours.
The stall list leans towards crafts made by the sellers themselves: jewellery, carved wood, felt figures and hand-painted decorations. Food stalls serve Knödel, sausages, Spätzle, strudel and several kinds of Glühwein. For families, Schönbrunn has the most to do of any Vienna market, with a 15 x 30 metre skating rink, four lanes for Eisstockschießen (Austrian curling), a small Ferris wheel, a carousel and a children's train.
The palace itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you can read up on Schönbrunn Palace before you go. Combining a state rooms tour with the market makes a full afternoon.
Pro Tip: Book a palace tour for 3pm, then walk out into the courtyard as the lights come on around 4.30pm. If you are in Vienna between Christmas and Epiphany, Schönbrunn is one of only two markets still open.
