Seminyak, Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Seminyak Beach (Pantai Seminyak) is a 2 km stretch of dark volcanic sand running north from Kuta to Petitenget Temple. The beach is wider and quieter than neighbouring Kuta, and the sunsets behind the surf break are some of the best in Bali. Stretches of the beach are dominated by hotel and beach club terraces, but the central public section near Jalan Camplung Tanduk offers good swimming and the famous beanbag-and-Bintang vendors at sunset.
Surf the gentle 1-2 metre waves with rental boards (100000 IDR/day) and instructors (350000 IDR for a 90-min lesson). Beach vendors sell coconuts, fresh fruit, and basic Bintang beers from dawn to sunset. The beach is public and free; sun loungers cost 50000-100000 IDR for a day. Avoid the rip currents on outgoing tide - swim only between the red and yellow lifeguard flags.
Pro Tip: La Plancha Beach Club at the northern end has the colourful beanbags featured in every Bali Instagram photo - order minimum 150000 IDR per person gives you free beanbag access without needing a day-bed reservation. Arrive 17:00 to claim a sunset spot.
