80799 Munich-Maxvorstadt, Germany
Jurgen Wolfsgruber holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide, and the reason this beats Munich's seven other one-star kitchens for a general readership is the lunch. The four-course Marktmenu on Friday and Saturday costs 85 euros, which is the least you can pay for a starred meal in this city. The five-course Gustostuckerl at dinner is 150.
Hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00, plus lunch 12:00 to 15:00 on Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. A reservation is required. Two weeks is usually enough, which makes this the starred restaurant you can actually add to a trip already booked, unlike Tohru.
Be aware of the limits. The dining room is small, it is closed three days a week, no pets are allowed, and it has not published its 2026 holiday closures, so confirm before you book flights around it. It also sits well north of the Altstadt, so this is a deliberate trip into Maxvorstadt rather than something you stumble into after sightseeing.
Pro Tip: Book the Friday lunch at 85 euros and treat it as your one splurge. Four courses at midday leaves the evening for a beer garden, and the same 85 euros buys roughly a quarter of the Tohru menu. Walk down through the Pinakothek museums afterwards, 10 minutes south.
