Formerly the Schneider Brauhaus and now trading as Weisses Brauhaus im Tal, this is the Schneider family's Weissbier house, run by the same family for seven generations. It is the traditional Bavarian restaurant to pick if you only have time for one, partly because of the cooking and partly because it opens daily 09:00 to 23:30 with no closing day, kitchen to 22:30, in a city where half the good places shut on Monday.
Mains run 14.90 to 29.90 euros. The Schweinsbraten at 16.90 is the house dish and comes from its own butchery, two pieces of meat with a dumpling. Schweinshaxe is 19.90, Kronfleisch 14.90 to 19.90, the veal Josefi-Schnitzel 29.90. A Munchner Weisswurst is 3.60 a piece and a half litre of Weissbier 5.50. Note the older name still appears on signage and in older guides, and the old website simply redirects.
The honest downsides are the location and the crowd. This sits on the main tourist corridor between Marienplatz and Isartor, it is loud, seating is at long communal tables, and it is a WirtshausWiesn venue, so from 19 September to 4 October 2026 it runs a reduced festival menu and fills completely. The offal end of the menu also is not for everyone. It does not publish what it accepts at the till, so carry cash.
Pro Tip: Come for a 10:00 Weisswurst breakfast rather than dinner. Bavarian tradition holds that Weisswurst should not hear the noon bells, the room is calm at that hour, no reservation is needed, and two sausages with a pretzel and a Weissbier costs under 15 euros.
