Hammamet is Tunisia's original resort town, set on the Cap Bon peninsula about an hour southeast of Tunis. Its long, soft-sand beaches, whitewashed medina, and 15th-century kasbah on the seafront have made it one of the country's most popular destinations since the 1960s.
