Vilnius Airport (VNO) is just 6 km south of the Old Town. Bus routes 1 and 2 run to the city centre in about 20 minutes (~€1). Bolt (ride-hailing, the most popular app in Lithuania) costs €5-8 and takes 10-15 minutes. A regular taxi costs €8-15. There is no direct train, but the train station is a short walk from the Old Town.
The Old Town (Senamiestis) is the UNESCO-listed baroque core around Pilies gatve and Cathedral Square. Uzupis is the bohemian artist republic just east of the Old Town. The New Town (Naujamiestis) has Gedimino prospektas, the main shopping boulevard. Snipiskes across the Neris river has the modern business district. Zverynas is a leafy residential neighbourhood near Vingis Park, and Antakalnis offers hilltop views and the Sapieha Park.
Very. The Old Town and all main attractions are within a 15-20 minute walk of each other. Gediminas Tower, Uzupis, the Gate of Dawn, Cathedral Square, and Hales Market are all easily reachable on foot. For areas outside the centre, Vilnius has good public bus and trolleybus networks, and Bolt is widely available at very affordable prices.
Trakai Castle (28 km west, ~30 min by bus) is a stunning island castle on Lake Galve - Lithuania's most photographed landmark. Kernave (~35 km northwest) is a UNESCO archaeological site with ancient hill forts. Kaunas (100 km west, ~1h 30min by bus) has interwar modernist architecture and a vibrant Old Town. The Hill of Crosses near Siauliai (220 km north) is a powerful pilgrimage site with over 200,000 crosses.
