Can I get a payment receipt for a crypto hotel booking?
In short
- Yes. trip1 emails a booking confirmation with the payment amount, date, and reference as soon as the crypto transaction confirms.
- Your wallet or a blockchain explorer gives you an on-chain record with the transaction hash - useful for tax records and personal proof of payment.
- For a formal VAT invoice for the hotel stay itself, request it directly from the hotel at check-in or check-out.
What you get from trip1
After your crypto payment confirms, trip1 sends a confirmation email to the address you provided at checkout. This email includes your booking reference, the hotel name and address, the check-in dates, the total amount paid and its currency, the date and time of payment, and a link to view or manage the booking. Save this email or download it as PDF - it's your primary trip1 receipt.
The blockchain record
Every crypto payment leaves an on-chain trail. Copy the transaction hash from your wallet or from CoinGate's checkout success screen, and paste it into a blockchain explorer (mempool.space for Bitcoin, Etherscan for Ethereum, Solscan for Solana). You'll get a permanent, verifiable record of the transfer including timestamp, sender, and receiver.
Many wallets also export transaction history as CSV, which is useful for personal record-keeping.
Getting a VAT invoice
The hotel is the party that provides your stay, so the VAT invoice for the stay itself comes from the hotel, not from trip1. Ask reception at check-out - most hotels can issue a VAT invoice with your business details on request.
