Can I split a hotel payment between crypto and a card?

In short

  • No. trip1 processes each booking as a single crypto payment from one wallet - you can't split one booking between two payment methods.
  • If you're short on one coin, swap or top up your wallet or exchange before starting checkout so you can pay the full invoice in the target coin.
  • Book multiple rooms or nights as separate reservations if you need to spread the cost across different funds.

One booking, one payment

trip1 uses CoinGate to process crypto payments for hotel bookings. Each booking generates a single invoice for a single crypto amount, and that invoice has to be paid in full from one wallet in one transaction. Split-tender at checkout isn't currently supported.

Workarounds if you're short on one coin

Swap or top up your wallet before you book

If you're short on the coin you want to use, swap another asset within your wallet or exchange first, then pay the full invoice in the target coin. Most wallets and exchanges support in-app swaps that take seconds.

Use USDC to cover any amount

USDC tracks the US dollar, so 1 USDC is worth about $1. If you'd rather pay a predictable dollar amount without worrying about coin volatility, USDC on Polygon or Base keeps fees to a few cents and settles in seconds.

Book rooms or nights separately

For group bookings or multi-night stays, you can make separate reservations with different funds per reservation - each is still paid entirely in crypto.
