Does the crypto Travel Rule affect my hotel booking?
Mostly no. The crypto Travel Rule applies to licensed crypto businesses, not to travellers. trip1 checkout never asks you for identity documents.

What the Travel Rule is
The Travel Rule requires licensed crypto businesses to collect and pass on identifying information about both the sender and the recipient of a transfer. It comes from Recommendation 16 of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the intergovernmental body that sets global anti-money-laundering standards, and it was extended to crypto in 2019.
The name has nothing to do with travelling. It refers to the information travelling with the payment, the same way a bank wire carries sender and beneficiary details.
Does it change how you book on trip1?
No. On trip1 you search hotels, pick your dates, choose to pay with crypto, and scan the QR code that CoinGate (trip1's crypto payment provider) shows at checkout. There is no crypto account to open, no wallet to connect, and no identity document to upload. trip1 only needs an email address to send your confirmation.
Where you might notice it
The friction happens one step earlier, at the exchange you withdraw from. Depending on where that exchange is licensed and how much you are sending, it may ask you to say who the recipient is, confirm the payment is going to a merchant, or prove you control the destination wallet.
None of that information reaches trip1. It stays with your exchange.

FATF revised the standard in June 2025 and expects countries to finish implementing the updated version by the end of 2030, so national rules will keep differing for some years yet.
Is your booking reported anywhere?
No. The Travel Rule asks licensed businesses to record and pass on transfer information, not to report ordinary purchases to anyone. Records exist so that authorities can request them if they ever investigate a specific transaction.
