Hotels in Tbilisi

Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia, set in a steep-sided valley along the Mtkvari river. Its old town layers wooden balconied houses, brick caravanserais, Orthodox churches, a synagogue, and Persian-built sulphur bathhouses within walking distance of each other.

The city has been a crossroads on the Silk Road for over 1,500 years, and the mix of cultures still shows up in the cuisine, the languages overheard in cafes, and the contrast between Soviet apartment blocks, modern glass bridges, and 4th-century basilicas. Travellers come for the wine, the supra (traditional feast), the hipster neighbourhoods around Fabrika, and the easy access to the Caucasus mountains.
