Pl. Kléber, 67000 Strasbourg, France
Place Kléber, the largest square in Strasbourg, holds the Grand Sapin, the giant fir that has stood here every Advent since 2000 and is the symbol of Strasbourg Capitale de Noël. The 2025 tree was a 30-metre silver fir weighing 7.5 tonnes, cut in the Moselle forests. Last winter it came alive with music and light every hour from 4pm to 9pm, then stayed lit without music until midnight.
Around the tree is the Village du Partage, a solidarity village where around 110 local charities took turns in fourteen chalets in 2025. Buying a drink or a bowl of soup here supports Alsatian associations, and some soups are created by starred chefs from the region.
Place Kléber also hosts one of the two official information chalets, where you can pick up the market map. Wheelchairs and walkers are lent free of charge here, without booking, in exchange for an ID document.
Pro Tip: Time your visit for the top of the hour after 4pm to catch the tree's light-and-music show, then cross to Place Broglie, which is a 4-minute walk north-east.
