Hotels near Christmas Train and Carousel

Vilnius adds to its Christmas market with free festive rides. A Christmas train winds through the illuminated Old Town streets from Cathedral Square, running from 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, according to Go Vilnius.

Next to the market, a traditional two-storey carousel handcrafted by artisans is a highlight for children and adults alike. In 2025, these attractions were offered free of charge as part of the city's festive programme.

The train is a relaxing way to see the decorated streets, churches and squares of the Old Town without walking on icy cobblestones, and it starts right beside the Vilnius Christmas market.

Pro Tip: Ride the Christmas train after dark for the best views of the lights. Queues can be long at weekends, so try a weekday afternoon.
