Hotels near Küüni Street Christmas Fair and Winter Folk Dance Day

On one Saturday in December, Tartu holds a large Christmas fair along Küüni Street, the pedestrian street running from Town Hall Square to the Kaubamaja department store. Stalls also set up next to the Tartu Market Hall and along the riverside boulevard by the Emajõgi.

In 2025, the fair took place on 13 December and ran until 4pm, according to The Baltic Guide. Stalls sell handicrafts, knitwear, food and gift ideas from across Estonia and beyond.

On one weekend in December, hundreds of folk dancers from Tartu and South Estonia also come to the Christmas City for the Winter Folk Dance Day, dancing around the Christmas tree. The 2026 dates had not been announced at the time of writing.

Pro Tip: Arrive in the morning, as the fair closes in the afternoon, and look for Estonian knitted mittens and socks as Christmas gifts.
