Hotels near New Year's Eve Fireworks

Madeira's New Year's Eve fireworks over Funchal Bay are among the most famous in the world and have held a Guinness World Record. Fireworks are launched from dozens of points around the city's amphitheatre, the waterfront and platforms at sea, lighting up the whole bay at midnight.

For the 2026 to 2027 season, the regional government has set 59 firing points, including 27 on the amphitheatre and 25 along the waterfront, according to official information. Cruise ships fill the harbour to watch the display.

Hotels and restaurants with bay views book up months in advance, so plan early if you want to see the fireworks.
