Hotels near TCS Amsterdam Marathon

The TCS Amsterdam Marathon, first run in 1975, takes place on Sunday 18 October 2026, starting at 09:00 and finishing inside the Olympic Stadium built for the 1928 Games. The flat course passes along the Amstel, under the Rijksmuseum and through Vondelpark, and it is one of the fastest marathons in the world. Around 32,000 runners take part in the full marathon, and more than 60,000 across the weekend.

The Mizuno Half Marathon runs on Sunday afternoon, while the 7.5 km race and Kids Run are held on Saturday 17 October. The Marathon Expo runs at RAI Amsterdam from 15 to 17 October. For visitors not running, the weekend means road closures across the south and east of the city and much higher hotel prices, so plan transfers around it.

Spectating is free along the whole route, with the loudest crowds along the Amstel and inside the stadium grandstand.

Pro Tip: Watch the leaders pass the Rijksmuseum tunnel, then take tram 24 to the stadium for the finish. If you are not in town for the race, avoid booking a hotel on the night of 17 October, when rates peak.
