Rotterdam Travel Facts
Rotterdam is the Netherlands' architectural playground — a rebuilt post-war port city that traded gabled canal houses for bold modern experiments. Cube Houses, the Erasmus Bridge, the Markthal food hall, and Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen give the skyline an ambition unmatched anywhere else in the country.
As Europe's largest port, Rotterdam is culturally diverse, less touristy than Amsterdam, and famously blunt — locals like to say "work hard, less talk." It's also a launchpad for Delft, Kinderdijk's UNESCO windmills, and The Hague, all within 30 minutes by train.
