Paying for your trip1 booking from a Ledger
trip1 lets you book from over 3 million hotels in 190+ countries and pay with 50+ cryptocurrencies through CoinGate (trip1's crypto payment provider). A Ledger is a hardware wallet that keeps your keys offline, so nothing leaves it until you press the buttons on the device.
How to pay from a Ledger - step by step
Step 1: Get your Ledger ready
Connect and unlock your Ledger, open the Ledger Wallet app, and check that the account you'll pay from has enough balance plus the network fee. Doing this first saves time once the countdown starts.
Step 2: Choose Pay with crypto on trip1
Pick your hotel, room and dates and select Pay with crypto. In the CoinGate window, choose your coin and the network your Ledger account uses, then pick the manual payment option.
Step 3: Copy the address and exact amount
Copy the payment address and the exact amount from the CoinGate window. For XRP, also note the destination tag, and for SOL, the memo.
Step 4: Create the send in Ledger Wallet
In Ledger Wallet, choose Send, select your account, paste the address and enter the amount. Add the destination tag or memo if the coin needs one, and review the network fee - it comes on top of the invoice amount.
Step 5: Verify and approve on the device
Your Ledger shows the recipient address, amount and fee on its own screen. Check the address character by character against the CoinGate window, then approve on the device.
Step 6: Wait for your booking confirmation
Once the transaction confirms on-chain, trip1 confirms your booking and emails you the details. If CoinGate asks for a one-time Transfer of Funds Regulation (TFR) form, fill it in.
Paying through MetaMask with your Ledger
If your Ledger is connected to MetaMask, you can use WalletConnect in the CoinGate window and approve in MetaMask, then confirm again on the Ledger. See paying with MetaMask for that flow.
Important: Always approve only when the address on your Ledger screen matches the CoinGate window, and send on the exact network shown. Crypto sent to the wrong address or network cannot be reversed.
