Tlos is one of the oldest continuously occupied cities of ancient Lycia, with settlement layers dating back to the 2nd millennium BC and mentions in Hittite tablets. The hilltop acropolis carries a Roman-era theatre, agora, bath complex and a small Ottoman fortress at the summit; the sheer cliff face below is drilled with rock-cut Lycian tombs, the grandest being the Tomb of Bellerophon with its carved relief of the hero mounted on the winged horse Pegasus. Pro Tip: Visit Tlos in the morning before Saklikent in the afternoon. The ruins are exposed and cook by midday, while the gorge is coldest and most crowded from mid-morning onwards. Combine both plus lunch at Yakapark for the classic inland day.
