April to June and September to October bring warm, sunny days without the peak summer heat. July and August are hot (30°C+) but ideal for beach trips to Cesme or Alacati. Winter is mild and quiet, with occasional rain and lower hotel prices, making it a good time for cultural sightseeing and Ephesus visits.
Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) is about 18 km south of the centre. The IZBAN suburban rail runs directly to Alsancak and Basmane stations in around 30 minutes for a low fare. Havas shuttle buses connect the airport to central stops, and taxis take 25-40 minutes depending on traffic.
