On trip1, you can book over 3 million hotels worldwide with Bitcoin, from global chains like Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and Accor to independent hotels, boutique stays and apartments. Very few hotels accept Bitcoin at the front desk, but on trip1 that doesn’t matter: you pay in Bitcoin at checkout, CoinGate converts the payment and the hotel receives a normal booking.

Below you’ll find which hotels take Bitcoin directly, the most popular chains you can book with Bitcoin on trip1, whether to pay on-chain or with Lightning, and what to know about fees and refunds.

Which Hotels Accept Bitcoin?

Very few hotels accept Bitcoin themselves. Large hotel groups take payment in local currency, and their front desks aren’t set up to receive Bitcoin. Only a handful of independent hotels take Bitcoin directly, usually through an emailed payment invoice. If you want to book hotels with Bitcoin anywhere in the world, you need another route.

A Bitcoin hotel booking platform solves this. On trip1, you send Bitcoin from your wallet, CoinGate converts it and the hotel is paid in its own currency. That makes every hotel on trip1 one you can pay for with Bitcoin, without the hotel needing to accept crypto itself. trip1 doesn’t add its own fee for Bitcoin payments, so you only pay the room price and your network fee.

All 3 million+ hotels on trip1 can be booked with Bitcoin. That includes every brand from Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Accor, Wyndham, Choice and Best Western, as well as independent hotels, boutique stays and apartments worldwide.

Hotels That Accept Bitcoin Directly

If you’d rather pay the hotel itself, these are the best-known hotels that take Bitcoin. All of them use a hotel-managed process, so contact the property before you book. Last checked: October 2026.

  • The Kessler Collection (US): a group of luxury boutique hotels that started accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum and other coins in 2021 through the payment processor BitPay. Guests receive an emailed invoice and pay from their wallet.
  • The D Las Vegas (US): one of the first Las Vegas casino hotels to accept Bitcoin, back in 2014. Payment also runs through BitPay.

Direct acceptance has limits. You usually can’t pay at the moment you book, the list of accepted coins varies, and refunds depend on each hotel’s own rules. For anywhere else in the world, booking through trip1 is the simpler route.

How to Book Any Hotel With Bitcoin on trip1

Booking takes a few minutes, and you don’t need an account with the hotel chain:

  1. Search your stay. Enter your destination, dates and guests, or filter by hotel chain.
  2. Pick your room. Check the room type, total price and cancellation policy.
  3. Choose Pay with crypto, then Bitcoin. Pick the Bitcoin network or the Lightning Network.
  4. Send the exact BTC amount. Scan the QR code or copy the address or Lightning invoice, and pay before the timer runs out.
  5. Get your confirmation. Once the payment is confirmed on-chain, your voucher arrives by email.

Bitcoin or Lightning: Which Should You Use?

You can pay for any hotel on trip1 with Bitcoin on the main Bitcoin network or on the Lightning Network. Both work for the same rooms; the difference is speed and cost.

Tips for Paying for a Hotel With Bitcoin

  • Pay from your own wallet if you can. Exchange withdrawals can take time to process, and the payment window has a timer. If it runs out, start a new checkout to get a fresh rate.
  • Check the amount that arrives. Some exchanges subtract their withdrawal fee from the amount you send, which can leave your payment short. Make sure the full amount on the invoice arrives.
  • Don’t worry about price swings during checkout. The BTC amount is locked for the length of the timer, so Bitcoin’s price moving doesn’t change what you pay.
  • Use Lightning when fees are high. If the Bitcoin network is busy, Lightning avoids high on-chain fees and slow confirmations.

Paying in Bitcoin from your own wallet also avoids the conversion spread and currency markup of a crypto debit card. Our guide to crypto debit cards vs paying directly compares the two. Prefer a stable price? trip1 also accepts USDC and other cryptocurrencies.

Fees, Refunds and Things to Know

  • Network fees: you pay the Bitcoin network fee on top of the room price. On Lightning, it’s usually just a few sats.
  • Cancellation terms: check the deadline and penalties for your rate. If you cancel a refundable booking, the refund is based on the booking’s value, so the BTC amount you get back can differ from what you sent.
  • Check-in deposit: many hotels ask for a card at check-in to cover incidentals, even when the room is already paid.
  • Loyalty points: bookings made through a travel platform don’t always earn hotel loyalty points, so check with the chain if points matter to you.
  • Taxes: in the US, the IRS treats digital assets as property, so paying for a hotel with Bitcoin can create a capital gain or loss if BTC has gone up since you bought it. Keep a record of each payment’s date, amount and dollar value.

Our Suggestion: Pick the Hotel First

Choose the stay that suits your trip, then pay for it with the Bitcoin you already hold. Booking through trip1 means you aren’t limited to the few hotels that accept Bitcoin themselves: you can choose from over 3 million hotels and pay straight from your wallet.
